David Mowat, MP for Warrington South was on hand last Friday to help open a state-of-the-art parcel sorting and distribution centre in Warrington to meet demand from the fast-growing online retail sector for secure delivery services. The 28,000 sq ft building in Lyncastle Road, Barley Castle Trading Estate, operated by DX Group, the UK's largest independent logistics network operator, can sort up to 4,000 parcels an hour.
Warrington South MP, David Mowat has attended a parliamentary reception in the House of Commons, organised by Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, for the launch of their new report, Preventing Babies' Deaths: what needs to be done. 6,500 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every year in the UK. The charity's report proposes that 1,200 babies' lives could be saved every year through a combination of more research, better care and greater awareness of the risks of stillbirth and newborn baby death.

Independent forecasts suggest that the line could add an additional £8billion and create around 40,000 jobs in the North West.
David Mowat, MP for Warrington South, this week blasted the Labour Party for failing to back the Government’s proposal to introduce a cap on the amount of benefits any one household can receive. The Government’s Welfare Reform Bill would see a limit of around £25,000, or approximately £500 per week, on the combined amount of benefits a single family can receive. Disability Benefits and War Widow Pensions are excluded from the cap.

Warrington South MP David Mowat today welcomed the announcement in the Autumn Statement that work would soon begin on the "Northern Hub" project which is designed to increase the speed and frequency of rail services in the North West. The Northern Hub project would see a new section of track known as the "Ordsall Chord" built to connect Manchester Victoria Station with Oxford Road and Piccadilly stations, relieving a major bottleneck in the region. This is in addition to the electrification of the line between Liverpool and Manchester and track improvements on transpennine routes to Leeds and Sheffield.

The Cheshire & Merseyside Vascular Services Review has announced that Warrington Hospital, along with Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral, will lose its specialist vascular services department in favour of a "centre of excellence" at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Warrington South MP David Mowat this week welcomed news that plans to build two new nuclear reactors at Hinckley Point Power Station in Somerset were moving forward once again. A recent report on nuclear safety by Britain's Chief Nuclear Inspector Mike Weightman confirmed that there was "no reason to curtail the operation of power plants or other nuclear facilities in the UK" in the wake of the powerful earthquake and subsequent tsunami which crippled the Japanese plants in March.
