David Mowat, MP for Warrington South was on hand last Friday to help open a state-of-the-art parcel sorting and distribution centre in Warrington to meet demand from the fast-growing online retail sector for secure delivery services. The 28,000 sq ft building in Lyncastle Road, Barley Castle Trading Estate, operated by DX Group, the UK's largest independent logistics network operator, can sort up to 4,000 parcels an hour.

David recently met with the Managing Director of David Wilson Homes, Graham Swann and Planning Director, Andrew Taylor, alongside Peter Taylor, Assistant Director, Regeneration, Development and Housing at the Council in order to raise the concerns of local residents and to receive a detail progress report on developments in Chapelford.

Warrington South MP David Mowat today welcomed the announcement in the Autumn Statement that work would soon begin on the "Northern Hub" project which is designed to increase the speed and frequency of rail services in the North West. The Northern Hub project would see a new section of track known as the "Ordsall Chord" built to connect Manchester Victoria Station with Oxford Road and Piccadilly stations, relieving a major bottleneck in the region. This is in addition to the electrification of the line between Liverpool and Manchester and track improvements on transpennine routes to Leeds and Sheffield.

David Mowat, MP for Warrington South, today slammed Labour Councillors for failing to back a motion condemning the breaking up of Warrington and calling for an "all-Warrington solution". Penketh & Cuerdley Councillor Paul Campbell and Lymm Councillor Bob Barr tabled a motion that would have expressed "concern" about the proposals put forward by the Boundary Commission and the "detrimental" effect it would have on the representation of the people of Warrington, particularly those in Penketh & Cuerdley.

Warrington South MP, David Mowat, this week commented on the differences between the 3 major political party's plans for redrawing the electoral boundaries of Warrington. All three main parties have put forward proposals to alter the existing constituency boundaries.

David Mowat today welcomed the news the Stockton Heath has won a prestigious Purple Flag Award from the National Association of Town Management. Stockton Heath is the first village in the UK to receive this award.

WCF members joined Cllr Paul Campbell on Saturday to support his petition for a new bus shelter on Warrington Road in Penketh.

Nearly 100 signatures were collected in Honiton Square and the surrounding area. Cllr Campbell has taken the issue into his own hands after writing to the council and being told there was no funding available for the £3,000 project. He hopes to raise the cash by speaking to businesses in the area and asking them to sponsor the bus stop.

David Mowat, MP for Warrington South and Cllr Paul Campbell (Con – Penketh) this week announced that they were joining forces to help keep Penketh in Warrington. The pair will be encouraging residents in Penketh and across Warrington to write to the Boundary Commission to protest against the proposal to put Penketh in a different constituency.

David Mowat today voiced his concerns over plans to put a "travelling showpeople" site on Green Belt land in Stretton, just south of Junction 10 on the M56, saying that he believes this application to be entirely at odds with the original intention of designating this area of the town as a green belt zone.
